A Note of Thanks

Since we are in the “season of thanksgiving,” I thought this an appropriate time to express thanks to the church here at Lakeview on behalf of my family and me.  Some of that for which we are thankful are things that most of you could share in expressing to one another.

First, we thank you for your financial support in the preaching of the gospel.  Men whom churches support in other places regularly mention their thanks in reports they send.  We “home” preachers probably do not express our thanks as often as we should.  As Paul said to the brethren in Philippi, “I thank my God upon every remembrance of you, always in every prayer of mine making request for you all with joy, for your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now” (Phil 1:3-5).

Also, we thank you for your emotional and spiritual support.  We moved here over fourteen years ago not knowing exactly what to expect, but we were  welcomed in and made to feel a part of the church family here at Lakeview; and for that we are thankful.  Our family has changed much during our time here, but your love and support has not.

We are also thankful for the countless acts of various individuals here.  Some of you have gone out of your way to take care of assorted repairs and maintenance, watch the kids, and other such things.

We thank some of you for all the times you come to worship to encourage us, even though you may not physically feel like being here.  We thank those who have accompanied us to gospel meetings, singings, or other spiritual gatherings in the area.  Many have had us into your homes or have accepted invitations into our home - giving us an opportunity to get to know one another better - and for that we are thankful.

For these and other reasons my family and I express our thanks to you here at Lakeview.  We hope that we have given you a few reasons to be thankful as well, with all thanks ultimately being given to God.
