"Why do we call ourselves saints? To best answer that question, we first need to ask another one. What is a saint? The Bible uses the term "saint" to distinguish the people of God from the people of the world. 1 Samuel 2:9 says of God, "He will guard the feet of his saints, but the wicked will be silenced in darkness." Paul describes "the saints in Ephesus" as "the faithful in Christ Jesus" (Ephesus 1:1). We call ourselves saints because by faith we are striving to live different from the wicked and in devotion to Christ Jesus."
