This Week’s Verse - Romans 14:23

“But he who doubts is condemned if he eats, because his eating is not from faith; and whatever is not from faith is sin.”

Romans 14:23

There is nothing wrong with eating meat offered to an idol (1 Cor 8:4), but it becomes wrong for someone who eats while having doubts about it being wrong.  Anything not done from faith, being firmly convinced that it is not wrong, becomes wrong for the one who does it.  While the phrase “When in doubt leave it out” may not be found in the Bible, the principle is.  If you cannot do something from faith, you had better not do it.  If you think it may be sinful, then it is sinful for you.  Don’t do it!
